The Stewarding Group’s working agreements
Drafted June 2022 by the new stewarding group
This is a living set of commitments to be held with compassion, empathy and bravery. We strive to be open to paradox, kind with uncertainty and, embody our principles throughout our work.
Experimentation: We commit to being risk ready if it brings opportunity for positive change as part of our experimentation. We are risk averse if the risk has potential to cause harm to any individual. Transformation work can be hard. We give each other permission to be playful and lighthearted.
Equity: We commit to striving for equity in all we do, and recognise that we don't all start from the same place. We make space to notice and articulate the way that power shows up and shifts between us.
Pace: We commit to recognising the value of adjusting our pace of work in different moments and phases. In particular we welcome slowness into the careful and inclusive holding of conversations and processes.
Self-awareness: We commit to noticing our own assumptions, avoiding jargon, paying attention to our needs, our reactions and what we bring into the room
Leaning into discomfort: We commit to holding space for tension, as long as we uphold our commitments to equity and safety in our group. We recognise that conflict can be generative when handled with care. We recognise we may not always reach 100% agreement as a group.
Working in the open: We commit to finding ways to share our learning internally and externally. We are a group that engages in open dialogue, exchanging openly and mindfully with each other. We generously credit and recognise where our ideas come from and who inspires us.
